Hospitality group Chestnut has added three Suffolk inns to its portfolio and opened new guest accommodation as part of ongoing investment in the East of England.

The Red Lion in East Bergholt, the Angel Inn in Stoke by Nayland and the Anchor Inn in Nayland have joined the group’s collection of pubs with rooms and Big House hotels. Chestnut has also launched three new lodge-style bedrooms in the grounds of the Crown, also in Stoke by Nayland.

The Angel Inn and the Anchor Inn will continue trading as normal, while the Red Lion is set to reopen on 25 August following refurbishment. Chestnut said all three sites would “continue to be a gathering place for locals, their four-legged friends, walkers and visitors alike”.

Chief executive Philip Turner said: “Despite the challenging environment we remain committed to a successful future for hospitality and are thrilled to welcome these charming places into our collection, securing their future for local communities.

“Each one has its own character which, as always, we’ll preserve, adding Chestnut’s commitment to place, provenance and personality.”
