Hospitality group Mitchells and Butlers (M&B) will transform several pubs in London and Bournemouth as part of a wider programme to upgrade 18 sites this year.

The pub group will renovate three venues within its Castle Pubs estate to strengthen the community-focused portfolio.

The White Horse in Parsons Green, The Sun in Bournemouth and The Crown and Greyhound in Dulwich will undergo comprehensive refurbishments including interior upgrades and enhanced gardens.

The project forms part of a larger strategy to invest in 18 sites throughout 2026. Future works are scheduled for the Prince Albert in Notting Hill and The Sun in Clapham Old Town. The company has removed legal suffixes from its branding for the announcement.

The White Horse will reopen on 5 February with an extended main bar and a new private dining area. Improvements to the Parsons Green site include an expanded garden and an outdoor bar with craft beer taps. The venue will maintain its focus on drink-led sales while introducing a seasonal British menu.

In Bournemouth, the venue formerly known as Sixty Million Postcards will relaunch as The Sun on 5 March. The Exeter Road site will feature modernised dining areas and additional screens. M&B said it plans to reposition the pub as a family-friendly hub ahead of the summer sporting calendar.

Meanwhile, The Crown and Greyhound in Dulwich will reopen on 19 March following upgrades to its ground-floor bar and outdoor spaces. The project will add 43 covers to the venue and include a contemporary upstairs event space. The site’s 20 hotel rooms will also be refreshed.

Operations director at Castle Pubs, Dan Barnett, said: “These refurbishments represent a significant investment in our estate and demonstrate our continued commitment to developing our pubs and securing their long-term future.

“By tailoring each pub to the needs of its community, we’re elevating quality and experience, creating pubs that our guests are proud to call their local, whilst at the same time, welcoming new guests.”
