Restaurant Associates has launched the Steve Groves Culinary Academy, a new culinary school aimed at developing talent across its venues portfolio.

The academy forms part of the company’s wider learning and development strategy and represents a long-term investment in its chef workforce. The first intake of 12 participants began the programme last month.

Delivered as a Level 3 apprenticeship in partnership with HIT Training, the 18-month programme combines hands-on culinary training with structured leadership development.

Each participant follows a personalised development plan designed to support both technical skills and career progression within the hospitality sector.

Restaurant Associates said the academy is intended to help chefs build confidence, raise standards and prepare for future leadership roles, rather than focusing solely on formal qualifications.

As part of the training, participants will take part in supplier and venue visits, including to Direct Seafood to gain experience in fish and shellfish preparation, and to Glyndebourne Opera House to observe service delivery at one of the group’s premium venues.

Further cohorts are expected to follow as the academy becomes embedded across the business.

Steve Groves, group development chef at Restaurant Associates Venues, said: “The talent within our business is extraordinary, and the programme is designed to challenge, inspire and support individuals as they raise their standards and reach their full potential.”
