Clapham pizzeria, Eco, is set to reopen on 9 February following a refurbishment that sees the restaurant stretch across three shop fronts with three separate awnings.
The brand said the refurbishment comes as ongoing developments above the businesses will be carried out over the next 18 months.
Faced with the prospect of having to close the restaurant for the duration or move location altogether, Eco Restaurant said it has been “hard at work” making plans and negotiating with developers to be able to keep their doors open to customers in Clapham at the infamous flagship location.
Eco will now take over the shop fronts of what was formerly Esca (and most recently pop-up Cairo Kitchen) at 160 and temporary plant shop Temple Essence (previously Santander) at 164, both of which are also owned by Eco Restaurant Group.
The refurbishment will mean cutting sideways through the three venues, leaving Eco to occupy 160, 162 and 164 Clapham High Street. This will allow Eco to have over 30 covers on the outside terrace along with 60 inside, leaving the back half of the restaurant blocked off for the rear and overhead development.
Eco Restaurants was founded in 1993 by husband and wife Sami and Laura Wasif, as an offshoot of the original Pizzeria Franco Brixton.
