Mulan Noodle opens in South London

Starters include marinated cucumber with a garlic-soy-vinegar dressing, Xinjiang pepper chicken and black fungus salad

Chinese noodle house Mulan Noodle has opened its doors in south London, offering handmade northern dishes and traditional live music.

Mulan Noodle, located at 192 Acre Lane between Brixton and Clapham, serves Xi’an-style street food, with a menu centred on hand-pulled noodles, house-made dumplings and rice dishes.

The new restaurant has been launched by Mina and Kris, who both grew up in China and now live in London. The kitchen team, also from China, has more than 30 years’ experience making traditional noodle dishes.

Starters include marinated cucumber with a garlic-soy-vinegar dressing, Xinjiang pepper chicken and black fungus salad.

All noodles are made to order in an open kitchen, with dough pulled and stretched on view. Toppings range from braised beef shank and brisket to vegetarian options including tomato and egg or mixed vegetables.

The drinks menu features bubble teas and cocktails such as a jade margarita with jasmine tea and an oolong eclipse whiskey sour.

The restaurant also hosts live performances of traditional Chinese music every Friday and Saturday night.

Live music performances include the guzheng, a 21-string zither, and the pipa, a four-stringed lute.

Mina and Kris said: “Driven by a shared dedication to quality and authenticity, the team prepares every dish by hand, using fresh ingredients and time-honoured techniques.”
