Sartoria, the Italian restaurant brand owned by the Evolv Collection, is to open a new site in South Kensington on 4 November.
Named Sartoria Launceston Place, the venue will bring the Savile Row restaurant’s “cucina elegante” concept to west London, combining Milanese style with influences from Launceston Place, a former dining favourite of Princess Diana.
The Sartoria brand was founded in 1990 by designer Sir Terence Conran and inspired by Milan’s traditions of food, fashion and design.
Following a redesign in 2015, the restaurant entered a new phase under the ownership of the Evolv Collection.
For the South Kensington restaurant, Sartoria worked with brand historian Ron Cregan, known for projects with Mulberry and the Maybourne Group, to “capture the restaurant’s signature identity”. The design draws on mid-century Milanese influences and Conran’s original principles of “precise tailoring, rich materials and restrained elegance”.
Evolv Collection chief executive Martin Williams said: “Sir Terence Conran’s vision for Sartoria was to introduce guests to the elegant style of Milan, his favourite city. The opening of Sartoria Launceston Place is an important step in our strategic vision for both Sartoria and the Evolv Collection, as we continue to create iconic, recognisable brands that resonate with guests and stand the test of time.”
Evolv Collection said it also plans further expansion of the Sartoria brand over the next six months, including the conversion of its Battersea restaurant Fiume into a Sartoria site and a new opening at Liverpool Street.
