Tortilla has launched a new summer menu featuring high-protein pots and an upgraded salad offering, as the fast-casual Mexican chain seeks to tap growing demand for lighter, healthier meals.
The updated menu, which debuts today (4 July), includes so-called protein pots – a snack or side dish – and a redesigned salad base with new toppings.
The changes are aimed at customers “craving lighter, healthier options” during the summer months, the company said.
Each protein pot includes two scoops of protein – a choice of chicken asado, beef barbacoa, pulled pork or vegan chilli – with two toppings and a lime wedge. Tortilla said the pots contain up to 62g of protein and are designed as a “grab-and-go” option.
The revised salad features a base of Cos, kale and spinach, topped with Tajín cucumber salsa, coriander and lime mayonnaise, and a toasted seeds and grains mix. The company described the salad as “just as indulgent as a burrito – without the carbs”.
James Garland, director of food at Tortilla, said: “As we head into summer, I’m excited to introduce the next phase of our core menu revamp. This is the perfect opportunity to build on the foundations that make Tortilla the go-to for fresh, bold, flavour-driven food, starting with our salad category refresh and the all-new Protein Pot side offering.
“These additions bring renewed energy to our teams and give customers even more reasons to choose Tortilla. With more food innovations in the pipeline, we’re doubling down on what we do best, delivering craveable, customisable, and fresh quality food that reflects our commitment to being a truly food-led business without compromise.”
The chain, inspired by San Francisco taquerias, operates more than 80 sites in the UK, 27 in France and 10 franchise locations in the Middle East. It claims to use 100% renewable electricity and to source ingredients including grass-fed British Isles brisket for its barbacoa.
