Chopstix is to open its first Sheffield city centre restaurant today (11 December), adding a new site in the redeveloped Fargate area as part of a wider expansion across Yorkshire and the North.
The company said the store would create 15 jobs and follows recent openings in Doncaster, York and Leeds, with the region identified as a key growth area for the Chinese-inspired quick service restaurant brand. Chopstix now operates more than 160 locations nationwide.
The group has accelerated its rollout since investment last year from European operator QSRP. Founded in 2002 in Camden Market, Chopstix is targeting further scale as it aims to become one of the largest Asian quick service operators in Europe.

Rob Burns, marketing director at Chopstix, said: “As one of the most vibrant shopping and dining destinations in the area, Sheffield’s Fargate, which is undergoing an exciting regeneration, feels like a great opportunity for us.
“It’s been another remarkable year for Chopstix as we’ve continued to average a store opening every two weeks. With our bold Chinese flavours, the brand offers a real point of difference to other high street staples, we’re seeing a continued rise in demand and that demand is really fueling this growth.”
