Pizza Hut UK is reportedly set to close 68 restaurants and 11 delivery sites after falling into administration, resulting in the loss of 1,210 jobs.

According to the BBC, DC London Pie Limited, operating as Pizza Hut’s UK restaurants, appointed FTI Consulting as administrators.

However, Pizza Hut’s global owner Yum! Brands has since agreed to save 64 restaurants in the UK, in a move that will save 1,276 jobs.

Speaking to BBC, a spokesperson for Pizza Hut UK confirmed the deal and said as a result it was “pleased to secure the continuation of 64 sites to safeguard our guest experience and protect the associated jobs”.

They added: “Approximately 2,259 team members will transfer to the new Yum! equity business under UK TUPE legislation, including above-restaurant leaders and support teams.”

Nicolas Burquier, managing director of Pizza Hut Europe and Canada, told Catering Today: “This targeted acquisition aims to safeguard our guest experience and protect jobs where possible. Our immediate priority is operational continuity at the acquired locations and supporting colleagues through the transition.”

FTI Consulting and Yum! Brands have been contacted for comment.
