Christie and Co has announced the sale of a vacant licensed property in Helensburgh to pub company Amber Taverns, for an undisclosed amount.

Located on James Street in the town centre, the property previously operated as a successful bar and restaurant, formerly known as ā€˜The Loggie Baird’ until its closure in 2022.

Historically, the property also traded as a cinema until the mid-1980s and is long-established on the Helensburgh leisure circuit. The property was sold by the former owners who wish to focus on other business interests.

Sam Frankland, property director at Amber Taverns, said: ā€œHelensburgh will be Amber Taverns’ 13th site in Scotland, and we plan to expand further over the next few years. We trade from over 180 pubs across the UK, and Scotland remains a key focus for us. We have a strong pipeline, and new openings have included Motherwell and Airdrie, with Bathgate due to open its doors in September. We continue to seek new opportunities across the UK.ā€

Tony Spence, associate director at Christie and Co, added: ā€œWe are delighted to have acted on behalf of the former owners to sell the property. The property will now receive a full refurbishment before opening with a fantastic new offering for the community and visitors to Helensburgh. It is always extra special when a vacant property is brought back to life.ā€

It comes after Amber Taverns opened The Oxford Tap in Guisely back in July. Spread across three floors, The Oxford Tap has bars on both the middle and top floors, and two outdoor terraces including one with a retractable roof.
