Loungers has opened its 300th site with the launch of Antico Lounge in Alton, East Hampshire.
Founded in Bristol in 2002 by Alex Reilley, Jake Bishop and Dave Reid, the café/bar group operates all day café/bar/restaurants under the Lounge, Cosy Club and Brightside brands.
It has opened 21 new Lounges so far this year, each creating about 30 jobs and representing an average £1m investment in the local high street.
The group’s expansion this year has included a new Cosy Club in Reading in May, the first with updated branding, following a refurbishment in Manchester in April.
Leeds will unveil the new look in September, with St Albans to follow in October.
Brightside, launched in 2022, now operates four roadside diners in Cornwall, Devon and Rutland.
Reilley, chairman, said: “When we opened the first Lounge back in August 2002 we couldn’t have imagined that 23 years on we would have 300 sites in the UK. It has been a remarkable journey so far, with a lot more still to come.”
Nick Collins, chief executive, added: “We couldn’t have reached this milestone without the astonishing effort of everyone who is involved in finding, building, and opening our sites; supporting them from our HQ, and of course our teams in the Lounges, Cosy Clubs and Brightsides busy serving communities across the UK.”
