The Duck and Rice will open a new restaurant at Battersea Power Station on 7 July, its first expansion since launching in Soho a decade ago.
The move marks a milestone for the Cantonese restaurant and pub hybrid, which opened on Berwick Street in 2015. The new 185-seat venue features an open-plan layout, open kitchen, and raised bar serving beer on tap, cocktails, and soft drinks.
The interior has been designed by architecture studio Macaulay Sinclair, drawing on the style of South China tea houses and Cha Chaan Teng. The design aims to echo both the British tradition of pubs and the Cantonese custom of gathering to yum cha.
The Duck and Rice will bring its signature dishes to Battersea, including the Cantonese House Roast Duck. Other dishes include pork and prawn shumai, curry soft shell crab, and sweet and sour pork with rice. A vegetarian option, vegetable katsu curry rice, is also available.
The brand said the menu is designed for sharing and aims to reflect traditional Cantonese flavours elevated through modern technique.
