Edinburgh’s Stockbridge Tap sold for almost £1m

Originally Christie and Co was appointed by Edinburgh Real Ale company to market both Cloisters Bar and the Stockbridge Tap

The Stockbridge Tap in Stockbridge, Edinburgh has been sold to new operators off of an asking price of £950,000.

The pub has been sold on behalf of Edinburgh Real Ale Company, a family-owned business, who owned and operated the business for over 20 years.

The pub has been sold to an experienced hospitality operator, who plans to continue running and growing the business.

The Stockbridge Tap is known for its welcoming atmosphere and for serving a wide selection of local and independent cask beers, as well as Scottish spirits.

There is the opportunity to reintroduce a food offering and extend the current operating hours to capitalise on the high footfall.

Simon Watson, business agent at Christie and Co which managed the sale process, said: “There wasn’t a shortage of interest in this pub. Edinburgh is still the most popular destination in Scotland, and this showed in the level of interest and offers we received. The new owners are established hospitality operators, and I am sure they will do an amazing job of carrying on the legacy left behind by the previous owners.”

Originally Christie and Co was appointed by Edinburgh Real Ale company to market both Cloisters Bar and the Stockbridge Tap.

Established in 1995, Cloister bar is housed within the historical former All Saints Parsonage, and the building retains many traditional features.
