Chef Neil Rankin’s Temper City restaurant is to change its entire menu as a result of what Rankin calls a “sluggish” customer response to the current Indian grill offering. The new menu will be more similar to that at Rankin’s first restaurant Temper Soho.
A Temper spokesperson told Catering Today that Rankin, along with the company’s managing director Sam Lee, have “decided to adjust the menu to have more an all-day focus of smaller plates which will appeal to the area’s predominant lunchtime trade”.
Rankin said that “trade has been heavily reliant on evenings which for a five day a week operation in such a large unit is challenging and the opposite to most city restaurants”.
Customer feedback on service is good according to the Temper boss, who is reluctantly making the change describing the Indian grill as his “favourite menu”.

Rankin has also hinted that he is planning to open “a more central site” of the Temper brand, where he feels the Indian-inspired menu would be more practical.
The new menu at Temper City will include barbecued meats, grilled fish, tacos and tostadas.
