An American restaurant has become the first to trial new ‘robo-chefs’ that can prepare a meal in three minutes at a cheaper cost than humans.

Spyce, a restaurant owned by French chef and restauranteur Daniel Boulud has set up a touch screen system which customers can use to order with before the robots set to work on their meals.

The robots cook the meals at 232 Celsius before the wok tips over to poor food into a pre-prepared bowl. The restaurant uses human chefs to prepare the ingredients, cutlery and bowls before handing over to seven robotic chefs each with their own roles within the kitchen.

Robots handle all cleaning tasks and is ran on completely renewable energy, important to the restaurant who make sustainability a priority. The cost of the robotically prepared meals start at $7.50.
