Fast-casual restaurant group Pitaya has entered the UK with the opening of its debut London restaurant in Covent Garden.

Founded in Bordeaux, the group provides Thai street food to over 150 locations across seven European countries, including Belgium, Spain, and Switzerland.

Comprising 108 covers inside, Pitaya Covent Garden also features a further 10 terrace spaces on The Strand.

The restaurant chain’s Covent Garden site was launched on 3 September, and marks the beginning of expansion plans across the UK.

Launched in collaboration with entrepreneur Medhi Rizvi, Pitaya’s London operation comes after the group saw “a gap in the market for fast-casual Thai food in the UK”.

Alongside the UK entrance, Pitaya has announced development plans for both company-owned and franchised sites across Africa and the Middle East, with “many more worldwide openings planned in the coming months”.
