Selin Kiazim has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds in order to transform its Kayseri restaurant into a bakery and wine bar.

Kiazim and business partner Laura Christie, plan to close their Fitzrovia restaurant later this month and hope to open their new business Oklava Bakery and Wine early next year.

The two business partners launched a campaign on Kickstarter to raise £10,000 in order to install a coal-room to create Turkish breads and pastries.

The bakery will serve ‘Baharat Spiced Bread’, ‘Simit’ – a circular bagel shaped bread topped with sesame seeds, ‘Daily Börek’,  a baked filled pastry made with thin flaky dough and ‘Poğaça’, which is a brioche type bun.

Writing on the crowdfunding page, the business partners said: “We are transforming our current site in Fitzrovia into Oklava Bakery and Wine in early 2020.

“We are taking ourselves into uncharted territories: expect breakfast, quality coffee, lunch plates, and the best breads and pastries this side of the Bosphorus by day, and sharing plates and a bulletproof wine list by night. In order to make our dreams come true, we need to install a cool room.”
