First Meatliquor site to close

Meatliquor’s first site in Marylebone is to close in order to make way for a luxury hotel, the site was only originally intended to be in place for two years, however it is now being removed after seven.

The restaurant is set to close at the end of February after originally being reported in the Evening Standard as closing in December. The chain began life as a street food vendor however it became well-known after it set up a pop-up in the upstairs of a New Cross pub, which led to long queues.

It is thought that the restaurant was the chain’s best performing restaurant, in part thanks to a favourable rent agreement. The site was offered to founder Scott Collins and Meatliquor’s co-founder Yianni Papoutsis for two years, however each year they were offered the site for a further year.

The closure leaves Meatliquor with nine remaining sites across London, in Shoreditch, Covent Garden, Brixton, Queensway, Islington, King’s Cross, Dulwich, Croydon, and Battersea.
