Following the success of Italian restaurant Bocconcino in Mayfair, Mikhail Gokhner is set to open a second site in London’s Soho on 15 September.
Located on 58 Great Marlborough Street, Bocconcino will specialise in Italian fare with a “contemporary flair”, including wood-fired pizzas, handmade pasta and cicchetti. With capacity for 146 diners spread across two floors, the 471 sq ft site will have an open-plan dining area seating 120, plus a bar on the lower-level seating 26.
Designed by CO:DE Studios, the upper dining area features a neutral colour palette with modern wooden fixtures and marble tables, with an open kitchen with counter seating where guests can watch the chefs. The lower-floor bar has accents of red and orange, including a webbed light fixture over the bar area.
The restaurant will also offer private dining for group celebrations, plus a DJ space on each floor for live entertainment.
Head chef Simone Serafini, previously of Cecconi’s and 5 Hertford Street, created the menu which will reflect the current Mayfair offering but with a wider range of aperitivo dishes and small plates.
The wine list is exclusively Italian and Bar Manager Tim Adams created a list of classic and contemporary cocktails. Bocconcino Soho will open seven days a week for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. A third site is also already planned for the Strand later in 2024.
Andrea Caglioti, general manager of Bocconcino Soho, said: “There’s such a buzz in Soho and I’m confident our new restaurant with its vibrant atmosphere, accessible yet elevated Italian menu, great cocktails and speakeasy style bar will be a welcome addition to the area.”
