Firefighters were called to the Lewis Community Tavern in Dundonald, Northern Ireland, at 08:16 this morning (31 January), to control a blaze at the pub.

As many as 30 firefighters and seven appliances were sent to the fire on Upper Newtownards Road where the pub is located. The road has been closed in both directions along with congestion building up on roads surrounding the pub with diversions in place. The damage caused by the fire or its cause are yet to be disclosed.

Patients for the nearby South Eastern Health Trust have been told to make extra time for their journeys, with its main entrance blocked due to the fire. A spokesperson for the hospital said a rear entrance to the building was open.
