New bar opens in Camden toilet

A new bar has opened in one of Camden’s historic Victorian public toilets just behind Camden Road station.

L&G Camden will have bartender Josh Powell at the helm fresh from several victorious cocktail competitions.Behind the new bar is craft spirit producer and Progress 1000 nominee William Borrell (owner of Vestal Vodka, Willow Low ABV spirit).

The interior at L&G has been overseen by Mark Lewis designs, and is said to take a “modern approach with clean lines, unexpected use of materials and warm vibrant colours inspired by a natural palette”. The bar itself will feature 45 covers with a mix of high-top and table seating.

In what it says is an attempt to pay homage to the past, the walls will feature informal polaroid portraits of some of London’s most prominent bartenders past and present alongside those of local producers.

L&G says it will use locally sourced, rescued ingredients and materials wherever possible throughout its menu offering and design. The menu will celebrate local producers such as the Highwayman martini, which uses Kentish Town gin and Willow a low alcoholic spirit made at the sister Venue Ladies and Gentlemen Kentish town, only a short walk from the bar.
