Gary Duffy promoted to head chef at Rockliffe Hall

Rockliffe Hall  has announced the promotion of Gary Duffy to Old Hall and Orangery head chef.

Duffy succeeds Richard Allen, who decided to step down from the post after almost five years at the four AA-Rosette restaurant in Hurworth, near Darlington.

Duffy is said to have worked closely with Allen, as his number two, for the last 10 years, both at Rockliffe Hall, and prior to that at Tassili at The Grand Jersey Hotel and Spa in the Channel Islands, where they were awarded a Michelin Star.

Allen, is moving on to “pursue other projects” but will continue to work with Duffy and the team, as he plans to “spend more time with his young family.”

Duffy said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been given this exciting opportunity and am inheriting an exceptional kitchen team. I look forward to working hard with everyone to keep The Orangery on the fine dining map.”

Simon Roberts, general manager at Rockliffe Hall, said :“We are sad to see Richard go but wish him the very best with the next stage in his fantastic career. He has produced so many outstanding menus and dishes in The Orangery and has been instrumental in Rockliffe Hall being awarded the coveted 4AA Rosettes.”

 “I am delighted for Gary, who has worked so hard since joining us five years ago, because he has worked with Richard so closely, for so long, the transition will be seamless and the food he and his team deliver in the Orangery will continue to be first class.”
