Polpetto head chef leaves after less than seven weeks

Polpetto head chef, Anthea Stephenson has left her role as head chef at Soho’s Polpetto after less than seven weeks.

The restaurant confirmed Stephenson’s departure however it has not given a reason for it. The chef took up the role in the first week of October, joining from the River Cafe near Putney bridge. It is thought that Stephenson left between 17 and 20 November.

When the restaurant relaunched after closing in 2014, the Polpo group issued a statement which read: “Our little sister Polpetto is growing up. You know those little sisters who suddenly blossom into full blown women, looking gorgeous and wowing the world with stupidly good results? Yeah, that. Anthea Stephenson (formerly of River Cafe) is now at the helm and we could not be more excited.”
