Filipino restaurant Sarap has announced a crowdfunding campaign, in partnership with Seedrs, to move from its current residency at 10 Heddon Street to Kingly Court in Soho.
People will be able to invest in the campaign from 12 December 2022. The new restaurant, located just off London’s Carnaby Street, will seat 45 diners in the main space with six bar stools for those looking for a more “casual” dining experience.
Sarap began as a supper club in 2017 and has worked its way up through supper clubs and pop ups. The first standalone site, Sarap Filipino BBQ and Lechon in Brixton, was opened at the end of January 2020 and the current Heddon Street residency started in November 2021.
Owner chef Ferdinand “Budgie” Montoya developed his experience within London restaurants including the Michelin-starred Restaurant Story, Dean Street Townhouse, Flat Three, Foley’s and Soho House and Co.
Montoya said:“I’m really excited about this next phase of Sarap’s journey and to be able to keep building on what we’ve achieved so far. I feel incredibly proud to have been able to share my interpretation of Filipino cuisine and introduce Londoners to the tastes and smells that represent my heritage. I’ve always hoped that Sarap will one day find a permanent home so I can’t wait to be able to open the doors to Sarap Kingly Court!”
