The Restaurant Group (TRG), parent company of Frankie and Benny’s, Chiquito and The Distilling House, has brought a further 22 sites to market, bringing the total number of sites up for sale to 44.

It is understood that 22 of these outlets have already ceased trading and are located at less attractive sites. The 22 that have just come to market through estate agents Savills are still trading but will close once sold.

In the company’s full year results for the 52 weeks to 30 December 2018, TRG said it would be reviewing its portfolio and identified 76 Frankie and Benny’s restaurants in “structurally unattractive” sites.

It is not known which restaurants are to be sold but a spokesman for the company said it would ensure to “redeploy staff to other sites within our portfolio”.

Last year, TRG increased its brand portfolio with the acquisition of Wagamama as well as pub groups RibbleValley Inns and Food and Fuel.
