The Real Greek is set to open its first site in Scotland, with a new site in St James Quarter, a new district in the city centre of Edinburgh

It marks The Real Greek’s 26th site, its 14th site outside of the capital and the fifth new restaurant to open in 2022. It comes as the group said it plans to expand its portfolio, with future openings in Scotland in the pipeline.

The new 140-cover site offers indoor seating and a Click and Collect offering. Located in the east end of Edinburgh’s New Town, St James Quarter features a  mix of retail, dining and leisure destinations including The Alchemist, Everyman Cinema and Lane7. The Real Greek will be the first Greek restaurant in The Quarter.

Nabil Mankarious, managing director at The Real Greek, said: “2022 has been a landmark year for The Real Greek, with a particular focus on openings in the North of England. Not only have we opened our first Northern England property this year, but now we are expanding into Scotland, with ambitious growth plans to roll out more restaurants in this fantastic country. We’re very excited about the future of The Real Greek in Scotland.”

General manager at The Real Greek Edinburgh, Christiana Berg, added: “St James Quarter, since its inception in 2021, has been such a firm favourite with shoppers, tourists and locals alike. Bringing something new and different to the area, and a cuisine that is so well loved and caters for everyone is very exciting. We can’t wait to welcome our guests in, over the busy Christmas period and beyond.”

Nick Peel, managing director at St James Quarter, said: “We’re delighted to welcome The Real Greek to open its first restaurant in Scotland at St James Quarter. This adds to a number of fantastic retail, dining and leisure destinations we have here at The Quarter and with many more exciting openings still to come, we look forward to welcoming guests to enjoy all that we have to offer.”
