Michael Caines at The Stafford has been awarded its first Michelin star in the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2026.

The restaurant, which opened in September 2025, is located within The Stafford London hotel in St James’s and marks Caines’ first venture in the capital.

The kitchen is led by executive head chef Simon Ulph, who previously worked at Caines’ flagship property, Lympstone Manor in Devon

The menu focuses on seasonal British produce and includes signature dishes such as pan-roasted Brixham turbot and confit duck and duck liver terrine.

The accolade follows the hotel’s relaunch of its main dining room under Caines’ direction as culinary strategist.

The restaurant offers various seasonal menus, including a signature tasting menu priced at £165, which includes a complimentary glass of champagne for guests quoting “Michelin” until 31 March 2026.

Managing director of The Stafford John McLean stated that the award is the first in the hotel’s history.

The 106-bedroom property, which dates to 1912, also operates the American Bar and a 400-year-old wine cellar.

Caines said: “To be awarded a Michelin star at The Stafford London is a truly special moment. It is the first in the hotel’s history, and a first for my debut London residence, making it even more meaningful. Michelin recognition is always about the collective effort — the passion, discipline, and consistency of the entire team.

“It marks the start of an incredible journey for everyone here at The Stafford London and acknowledges the time and commitment invested so far, motivating us all to keep evolving in this exciting new chapter.”

McLean added: “Receiving a Michelin star is an extraordinary honour and a moment of immense pride for everyone involved. This recognition is a testament to the talent, dedication, and creativity of our entire team, who consistently strive for excellence every day. We are deeply grateful to our guests for their continued support and to Michelin for recognising our vision.”
