Flat Iron has confirmed it will open its first Birmingham restaurant in summer 2026. The 110-cover venue will be located at 41-42 Temple Street, occupying a historic building previously held by The Botanist, which closed in 2025.
The restaurant will feature 60 covers on the ground floor and 50 on the first floor. The menu centers on the brand’s signature flat iron steak, alongside a rotating specials board featuring Wagyu and a green chilli cheeseburger.
The beef for these dishes is sourced from the company’s own herd in Thirsk, Yorkshire.
Additionally, sides include beef dripping chips, truffled macaroni cheese, and crispy bone marrow garlic mash.
The drinks list will feature a selection of draught beers, cocktails, and the group’s own Malbec, blended specifically for the restaurant from grapes grown in the Limoux region of France.
Founded in 2012 by Charlie Carroll, Flat Iron operates 19 sites across the UK, including locations in London, Cambridge, Leeds, Manchester, Brighton, and Bristol. The Birmingham launch follows recent openings in Newcastle and London’s Piccadilly earlier this year.
Fred Smith, head of beef at Flat Iron, said: “From the very beginning, Flat Iron has been about offering carefully sourced, high-quality steak at great value. We’re delighted to be bringing Flat Iron to the city’s dining scene and are looking forward to opening our doors this summer.”
