Aktar Islam, Michelin-starred chef at Opheem, has unveiled plans for a new Birmingham restaurant.

The Craft English Garden will be located in Birmingham’s International Convention Centre, and is set to open in January of next year.

The botanical-themed restaurant will feature a range of dining pods, as well as hanging planters, floral archways and foliage walls.

The restaurant is said to be a nod to “nostalgia and childhood”, with an English garden theme present throughout both the restaurant and bar. The new menu will focus on recreating traditional British dishes, with a particular nod to the British afternoon tea.

The bar will also maintain this “British focus”, with over 32 local gins on offer as well as an array of botanical-based cocktails. A wine list will comprise of wines from English vineyards.

This marks the first collaboration between Islam and Sam and Emma Owens, owners of Craft Dining Rooms.

Alongside this new venture, Islam has overseen the recent openings of Italian restaurant Legna and Argentinian Pulperia, which can also be found in Birmingham centre.
