Somerset restaurant, 28 Market Place, has recently announced its closure after opening three years ago.

The 26-cover restaurant was founded thanks to an investment from Horatio’s Investments, whose founder is a Somerset-born entrepreneur with a passion for investing in businesses that enhance the local area.

The location was initially restored with the help of Wellington-based architect Claire Fear and firm Thread and subsequently expanded with the addition of two neighbouring buildings which accommodate the bakery and wine shop.

In an announcement on Instagram during the Easter holidays, the restaurant has stated that it will not be opening again.

The team said: “We did all we could until the very end but it just wasn’t enough. Thank you all, for the good times, the services filled with love and joy, your company and your custom. We are eternally grateful to you all.”

The venue has also promised that it will reimburse those with deposits and vouchers in due time and apologised for not having been able to accommodate customers during the holidays.

In the announcement, the team continued: “It’s your Easter weekend and we cannot tell you how sorry we are that we couldn’t serve you. We know just how many of you are disappointed. If we could have done anything to change that, we would have done it. We are so sorry.”
