The General Tarleton pub in Ferrensby, North Yorkshire, is set to reopen on 29 August 2025 following a major refurbishment by newly formed group Jeopardy Hospitality.
The relaunch marks the first project from the group, co-founded by restaurateur Tommy Banks and partners Matthew Lockwood, James Banks and Neil Armstrong.
The 18th Century coaching inn, located near Harrogate and Knaresborough, has been restored as an eight-bedroom pub with a private dining room, beer garden and bar.
Sam Orbaum has been appointed general manager, bringing experience from Woodhead Restaurant Group.
Aled Williams, previously head of food and innovation at Truefoods and former head chef at Michelin-starred Northcote, joins as executive chef.
Williams has also appeared on the BBC’s Great British Menu and won the Gordon Ramsay Scholarship.
The menu will feature British pub classics using seasonal and locally sourced produce. Dishes include steak and Guinness pie, Dexter beef burgers, Barnsley chops and a Côte de Boeuf for two, alongside Sunday roasts and a set menu priced from £26.
Desserts range from tiramisu Vienetta to buttermilk panna cotta, with a regional cheese board from The Courtyard Dairy.
A 40-bottle wine list curated by James Banks includes selections from classic regions and emerging producers, with over 20 wines available by the glass.
English wines from Wiston and Gusbourne also feature. The drinks menu includes cocktails with seasonal ingredients and a collaboration beer brewed with Turning Point Brewery using botanicals from the Banks family farm.
Designed by Yorkshire-based Abi Hancock, the interiors retain original features such as timber beams and stone floors, combined with natural materials and warm finishes to reflect the rural setting.
Jeopardy Hospitality aims to revitalise distinctive pub sites across the UK. The relaunch of The General Tarleton forms part of a broader vision from the team behind the Tommy Banks Group, which operates The Black Swan at Oldstead, Roots in York, The Abbey Inn at Byland, and Made In Oldstead.
