Young’s has announced the appointment of Sarah Sergeant as a new nonexecutive director with effect from 1 March 2023.

Sergeant is currently the chief financial officer and an executive director of Watkin Jones PLC. She was previously the chief financial officer of the UK and Ireland region at Compass Group PLC.

She held a number of senior finance and operational roles over her 13-year tenure at Compass, including group financial controller, M&A director, and CFO of the Asia Pacific region, based in Singapore. Sergeant is also a chartered accountant.

Commenting on the appointment, Stephen Goodyear, chairman, said: “I am delighted that Sarah has agreed to join our board. She has a wealth of experience in the leisure/hospitality and property sectors and will bring considerable financial, strategic, and operational experience to the Young’s board. My colleagues and I are very much looking forward to working with her.”
