Birmingham-based hospitality brand City Restaurant Group (CRG) has appointed Hashim Hussain as director of operations.

Hussain’s appointment comes as the group looks to strengthen its growth strategy across its portfolio, which includes Afrikana Kitchen, Mowchi and BonBird.

Hussain has more than 15 years’ experience in operational leadership and has overseen projects to improve efficiency, customer service and business scaling across a range of industries.

In his new role, he will be responsible for operational strategy, building systems to support expansion, and ensuring consistency across CRG’s restaurants and franchise network.

Additionally, CRG said Hussain would play a key role in supporting both the leadership team and franchisees as the group continues to expand.

Matthew Wood, managing director of CRG, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Hash to CRG. His proven track record and forward-thinking approach to operations align perfectly with our vision for the future.

“His expertise will help us scale effectively as we continue our growth journey. On a personal level, what excites me most is the energy, integrity and collaborative spirit he brings.”
