Pret A Manger has decided to make its gingerbread men genderless and call them gingerbread biscuits instead.
The decision was made after the sandwich chain’s CEO Clive Schlee received a letter from one of its customers, whose niece Annie asked why Pret only had gingerbread men.
So far, the chain only sold a gingerbread man named Godfrey, but following the letter decided to introduce a new one named Annie and refer to them as “biscuits”.
Clare Clough, food and coffee director at Pret A Manger, said: “Since we’ve introduced Annie, we thought it would be simpler to call them gingerbread biscuits.”
