The team at Macclesfield-based distributing business, Direct Food Ingredients is celebrating the launch of its brand new division dedicated to herbs, spices and natural health ingredients.

This arm of the business will be headed up by new recruit, Dave Wheeler a procurement specialist, with over thirty years’ experience importing ingredients from around the world.

With 800 products in his portfolio, Wheeler will be able to source some of the most unique ingredients directly from suppliers in Africa, America and Asia.

Wheeler said: “The public are getting more and more adventurous with their foods, so the demand for different and unusual flavours is increasing. During my career I have travelled from country to country sourcing and importing rare ingredients, and will continue to build upon my portfolio to ensure our customers receive the best and most authentic products available.”

Brigg Simpson, sales director at Direct Food Ingredients added: “We launched our new division as part of our strategic growth, enabling us to provide our customers with the exact ingredients they need when food trends change and demand grows.

“We are delighted to welcome Dave on board, his extensive knowledge and wealth of experience is invaluable.”

Direct Food Ingredients has achieved another record-breaking year turning over in excess of £21.2m at year end in 2017.
