Arc Inspirations has reported that turnover stood at £47.2m for the year ended 31 March, marginally below the £47.4m recorded in the previous year, as record festive trading offset market pressures.
The hospitality business saw its operating profits for the year fall from £721k to £134k, while adjusted EBITDA were broadly unchanged at £5.25m compared with £5.26m the previous year. Net profits rose to £1.28m, from £1.01m.
The Leeds-based operator of the Box, Banyan and Manahatta brands, called the year in its filing at Companies House “transformational”, having been marked by the opening of three new venues – Manahatta Edinburgh in October 2024, followed by Manahatta Nottingham and Box Sheffield in November.
The Edinburgh site represented the company’s first in Scotland, while the Nottingham and Sheffield openings added second venues in both cities as part of Arc’s multi-brand “cluster” strategy.
While all six sites opened since April 2023 are trading ahead of expectations and contributing positively to EBITDA, four suburban venues were exited during the year as part of a shift towards prime city-centre locations.
In January 2025, the company consolidated two revolving credit facilities from HSBC into a single £9m facility designed to support future expansion. Around £1m remained undrawn at year-end, earmarked for openings planned for 2026.
The business recorded its strongest-ever festive period in December 2024, with weekly sales topping £2m and total Christmas trading up 10.8% year-on-year. Sales were also boosted by the men’s Euro 2024 football tournament, which lifted group revenue by £640k (16.4%) during the five-week competition, including a 79% like-for-like increase across the estate on England match days.
Arc said the company continued to focus on cost control and efficiency, with site-level EBITDA rising from £9.3m to £9.7m and conversion margins improving to 20.5%. It also implemented a new cloud-based finance system, Sage Intacct, to strengthen reporting and support further growth.
Martin Wolstencroft, chief executive of Arc Inspirations, said: “We have successfully navigated challenging market conditions through strong brand differentiation, disciplined cost management and continued investment in our teams. As consumer confidence improves, we are well positioned to accelerate our growth in key UK cities.”
