The Dorchester’s historic dining room, The Grill, is set to relaunch this September with a modern take on the classic grill concept, under the direction of culinary director Martyn Nail and head chef Jacob Keen-Downs.

Nail, one of London’s most experienced chefs, has joined forces with Keen-Downs, formerly of Gold in Notting Hill, to reimagine the restaurant with a menu focused on British produce, technical precision, and contemporary presentation.

The redesigned dining room features open-kitchen theatre, trolley service, and traditional finishes such as Bentley leather banquettes and ornate chandeliers.

Dishes include tuna tartare prepared tableside, a seafood platter, and beef Wellington, alongside smaller plates designed for sharing.

Breakfast highlights include omelette Arnold Bennett and Portland crab Benedict, while as part of the relaunch, The Grill will host a supper club series in collaboration with Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. The autumn programme pairs live performances with a three-course menu, with shows scheduled from September to December.

Artists include Natalie Duncan (24 September), Natalie Williams (29 October), Jo Harrop (26 November) and Georgia Cecile (9 December). Tickets are priced at £145 per person, excluding drinks and service.

Nail said: “This dining room has been making history for 95 years. Our aim is to celebrate the best of the grill tradition with exceptional cooking and a great environment. Whether our diners choose to snack at the counter, graze with friends, or enjoy the full experience alone, we want the room to feel vibrant, relaxed, and warm — the place to go, and the place to return to.”

A spokesperson for Ronnie Scott’s said: “We’re delighted to be teaming up with The Dorchester – it’s fantastic for these two iconic London institutions to come together to present our unmistakable live jazz in their historic space.”
