In an announcement on Facebook restaurant Brian Maule announced its closure after 22 years of business.

Detailing that the closure was due to the ‘financial burden of the new normal world we live in’. It listed attributing factors as consisting of COVID, the cost-of-living crisis, increased home working, lowered property values and a lack of support for the hospitality sector.

The board said: “Brian has built a reputation for the delivery of first-class food and service in the restaurant and the provision of the highest quality in private dining and recurring events. He has a loyal and significant following. Just how and where the value of this might now be captured, time will tell. It is all too raw for these considerations yet. His is a talent though that should not be lost.”

Michel Roux Jr commented: “Very sad indeed, 22 years of blood sweat and tears gone down the drain, energy prices, food inflation, interest rates, draconian Covid rules, Brexit all playing it’s part but what’s criminal is the lack of help from UKG.”
