Pizza Pilgrims has reported sales of £21m, an increase of 80%, for the period ended in June 2022.

EBITDA for the company was £1.1m, a 56% increase on the previous year as a result of new openings and operational efficiencies. In 2022, the company operated 19 pizzerias in London and one in Oxford

Gross profit reported was £8.6m.

The company has said that it will start to put “a strong focus in the future financial years on sustainability” by appointing a dedicated consultant to outline its 2030 net zero ambitions.

During the period, the company acquired two new sites, one in Selfridges and one in Finsbury Park. The neapolitan-pizza style pizzeria is now looking to open nationwide and already has three planned openings outside of London, in Brighton, Cambridge and Nottingham

Director Thom Elliot said: “New challenges face us in the new financial year, with strike action impacting the business – changing consumer behaviour. However, we are seeing the beginning of people returning to work in the office having a positive impact on sales.

“We are thrilled that trading in FY 2022/23 started very strongly and ahead of target in both sales and EBITDA on an ambitious budget. We are in a strong cash position and do not see any issues here to continue to open new pizzerias at a manageable rate.”
