The international director of the Michelin Guides since 2011, Michael Ellis, has announced he will leave the Michelin group on 14 September.

He will join Dubai-based luxury hotel group Jumeirah in a newly created role as its chief culinary officer. During his time, Ellis led the Michelin Guide teams through an internationalisation strategy, as a result of which the Guide now has 31 editions in 30 countries and has expanded its collection of six new titles over the last three years.

Ellis said: “My seven years as head of the Michelin Guides have been the most exciting of my career and I can not thank the Michelin group enough for giving me this unique opportunity. The inspectors are the beating heart of this strategic activity, their passion and their expertise are without question and I was very honored to be with them during these seven years. Long live the Michelin Guide.”

The company said that his successor will be appointed “soon”.
