The legal requirement for social distancing in bars and restaurants is to be removed in Northern Ireland from 31 October.
The new rules mean people will be able to move around pubs and restaurants and eat and drink while standing up.
Nightclubs are also set to reopen, with legal restrictions on dancing in venues being scrapped.
Paul Givan, first Minister, said: “I’m pleased that at the end of this month they will be able to operate in a much more sustainable and viable way.”
Colin Neill, chief executive of Hospitality Ulster, said: “The removal of social distancing will give hospitality businesses a huge lift as it will allow customers the opportunity to enjoy a drink at the bar once again.
“We acknowledge these positive decisions by the Executive, which will be a huge relief to business owners and staff in the hospitality sector.”
