Chef Harriet Mansell has announced her second Lyme Regis venture with the upcoming opening of Lilac, a wine bar tap room.

Specialising in low-intervention wines and small plates, the 40-cover establishment is due to launch in July 2021.

The venue will follow in the path of Mansell’s debut restaurant Robin Wylde, which opened in October 2020 and focuses on West Country produce.

Mansell said: “Lilac has been a long time in the planning, and with the lifting of lockdown restrictions and a general sense of optimism in the air, now feels like the perfect time to bring something completely new to Lyme.

“We are so looking forward to growing the Robin Wylde family and to continue sharing in the incredible produce our local winemakers, growers, fishermen and farmers work tirelessly to produce all year round.”

The venue will open with a 400-year-old cellar space on Lyme’s Broad Street, and will offer a selection of wines sourced from small-scale Dorset vineyards such as Furleigh Estate, Sharpham, Castlewood, Dunleavy, and Limeburn Hill.

Moreover, Lilac will also provide a changing menu of seasonal plates, focusing on “vegetables, zero waste and sustainability”.

The site is located just a two minute walk from Robin Wylde, a 26-cover restaurant serving a 10-12 course tasting menu.
