Kirkcaldy pub sees 450k revamp

The Chapel Tavern in the Scottish town of Kirkcaldy has reopened its doors this October after undergoing a 450k refurbishment and seven month closure. 

The pub situated on Chapel Road was due to open in late April following refurbishment by Star Pubs and Bars, however due to lockdown restrictions, owners Gavin Innes and Gillian Moffat faced a five month setback. 

The Chapel Tavern originally opened in 1610 making it one of the oldest pubs in the Kirkcaldy town.

The venue accommodates 119 people inside as well as an added alfresco eating area which seats a further 58 outside. 

Other changes include new toilets, a new kitchen and universally accessible access, the management team has also introduced “host of measures to keep people safe”, including tables that will be “sanitised after every use”. 

Brian Davidson, Star Pubs and Bars Scotland operations director, said: “The Chapel Tavern is a really individual pub with a wonderful sense of history.  It has served the area for more than four centuries and we want to keep it thriving for future generations. There are lots more reasons to visit now and we hope people from across Kirkcaldy will enjoy it.
