Bluestone resort has restaurant proposals approved

Bluestone National Park Resort’s plan to turn Black Pool Mill into a restaurant has been approved.

The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Planning Authority greenlit a proposal to turn the mill into a heritage restaurant alongside plans to create a cafe and exhibition space in the surrounding buildings.

Some 160 diners will be accommodated at the restaurant, with 35 year-round jobs created. 

Currently, the Narberth holiday resort employs over 700 people and hosted nearly 155,000 visitors in 2019.

Liz Weedon, head of projects at Bluestone, said: “We are really pleased to have the application approved and are truly excited about our plans for Black Pool Mill. 

“We will shortly begin work to restore the building, to be enjoyed once again by local people and visitors to the county. The Mill is a unique historic building that sits in a beautiful position on the Cleddau River. 

“We are committed to breathing new life into the Mill whilst preserving and restoring its historic past”.

The restaurant development features among wider plans to invest £15m into new lodges, providing an additional 80 lodges to the site.

Weedon added: “We are looking forward to discussing our proposals on what would be a very significant investment in tourism for Pembrokeshire, Wales and the UK.”
