Ottolenghi has announced that two of its London delis are beginning to open their doors.

This week, step-by-step, Notting Hill and Islington sites will begin to open to serve the local community pastries, cakes, coffee, fresh salads and other pantry items.

The chain, founded by famed Isreali-English chef Yotam Ottolenghi, will also see its online shop will be back up and running on Friday 22 May.

The delicatessens will serve a capsule collection of “essentials”, mostly the products on offer when the shops opened first, almost two decades ago: croissants and other morning pastries, fruit tarts and chocolate fondant cake, aubergine salad, broccoli and cauliflower tabbouleh, and a changing selection of mains to take home.

The sites will be open with social distancing measures in place including a queueing system that will operate in front of the sites with only a few customers allowed in at any one time.
