Hackney’s Carte Blanche restaurant, which made headlines upon its launch for its offering of caviar on fried chicken. has closed after just five months.
Run by chef Andy Taylor, it is understood that the restaurant closed in December last year, with its last social media post on 13 December. The restaurant is also no longer taking orders on delivery platform Deliveroo.
The restaurant followed Taylor’s previous work as co-founder of now defunct street food burger outlet, Le Bun. Last summer the restaurant was opened with the promise of “indulgent French flavours with American comfort food classics”.
At the time of opening Carte Blanche replaced Rita’s, which has since moved on to a new site within the borough.
