Gino D’Acampo’s restaurant Luciano, in Alderley Edge Cheshire, has been acquired by the San Carlo Group.

The restaurant will close its doors on 14 February 2023, just one year after it opened.

It will be closed for five weeks and then reopen under the San Carlo brand. The restaurant will undergo a full refurbishment at a later stage and it is believed all staff will be retained.

The deal is part of Luciano’s business’s strategy to focus on opening “upmarket restaurants” in national and international major cities.

Marcello Distefano, managing director of San Carlo, said: “We are delighted to acquire such a prominent location in our heartland the North West and look forward to welcoming it into our Italian family.”

Steven Walker, chairman of D’Acampo’s restaurant business, added: “The deal is part of
our strategy to focus on opening upmarket restaurants in central London and major UK cities such as our imminent openings in Leeds and Manchester, together with international locations. I wish Marcello and his father Carlo the very best of success for the future and could not think of a better home for this fabulous location.”

San Carlo Group runs 32 UK and international sites. The Luciano site will be its first location to open in Alderley Edge.
