Dishoom set to open in Birmingham next year

Indian restaurant Dishoom has announced it is set to open its new chain in Chamberlain Square in Birmingham in Spring 2020.

The restaurant, which is part of Paradise development opened its first site in Covent Garden in 2010 and has opened more chains in London’s Kings Cross, Soho and Shoreditch.

It also made its regional debut in Edinburgh in 2016 and opened in Manchester last year.

Founders Shamil and Kavi Thakar took inspiration from old Irani cafes in Bombay, which gives Dishoom its “distinctive story”. The new Birmingham branch has been inspired by the city’s history as the “city of a thousand trades.”

Dishes from executive chef Naved Nasir will include the bacon naan breakfast roll, chicken tikka, chilli cheese toast, chicken ruby and keema pau. The restaurant will also feature a Permit Room bar, which will serve cocktails, beers, chai and coolers.
