Big Mamma, an Italian restaurant group, has announced the opening of its fifth London restaurant Carlotta in May 2023.

The site features a ruby red terrace, skylit dining room with leather furnishings, golden drapes and a soft suede ceiling.

The bar is also made of Venetian marble and the basement will be an 80s style drinking den in midnight blue velvet, which will also house an open kitchen.

The new restaurant is regarded as Big Mamma’s “most intimate” trattoria yet.

The dishes served are inspired by famiglia-style Neapolitan and Sicilian classics with a retro Italian-American twist.

Menu items will include a delicate rosé veal tartare, tempura shrimp cocktail, penne alla vodka with Cornish crab, delicate lamb arrosticini skewers and a giant ten-tiered choco fudge cake.

Together with the recently opened Jacuzzi, the Italian restaurant firm is also behind the London restaurants Gloria, Ave Mario, and Circolo Popolare.
