The Black Bull in Edinburgh has been appointed as the official away hub for Edinburgh Rugby, marking the first time the club has designated a city centre venue for supporters when the team is playing on the road. The partnership will run until the end of the 2025-26 season in May 2026 and will see the sports bar host live screenings of Edinburgh Rugby away matches, alongside fan events and player appearances.

The Black Bull, which can accommodate up to 260 people and has eight high-definition television screens, will offer discounts to supporters as part of the agreement. Season ticket holders will receive 20% off their total bill at any time, while all Edinburgh Rugby fans will receive the same discount on match days.

The venue has also introduced a rugby-themed food menu linked to the partnership, featuring items named after current Edinburgh Rugby players.

The Black Bull is operated by Signature Group, an Edinburgh-based hospitality business that already works with the club across several other venues in the city, including Kyloe, the Queens Arms and Cold Town House.

Gary Temple, general manager at the Black Bull, said the venue aimed to recreate the atmosphere of Edinburgh Rugby’s Hive Stadium in the Grassmarket.

He said: “We’re really excited to be teaming up with Edinburgh Rugby as their official new away hub for the first time. We hope to recreate the buzz of the Hive Stadium in the Grassmarket, where we will be celebrating all things Edinburgh Rugby.”

Edinburgh Rugby managing director Douglas Struth said the partnership built on an existing relationship with Signature Group and provided a dedicated meeting point for supporters in the city centre.

He said: “We’re thrilled to officially welcome the Black Bull into the Edinburgh Rugby commercial family as our new away hub. It’s the perfect place to recreate that unique Hive Stadium atmosphere when the team is playing on the road.”

He added that supporters not attending away fixtures in person were encouraged to watch matches at the venue and make use of the discounts available.
